Welcome Message
Dear Prospective Family,
Welcome and thank you for contacting our school! I am honored by the fact that you have taken interest in becoming a part of the Evans Christian Academy family. Though we are first and foremost an academic institution, we are committed to your child’s total development, including spiritual and physical.
As a pastor for many decades, I am called to serve God’s children. We are here to serve the needs of our students and their families as we are all a part of God’s family. It is my privilege to share vital information about Evans Christian Academy with every family that calls upon us for information.
Our school has an interesting history… It began with a “Child Care Program” in 1985. The dream of expanding to include an Academy became a reality, and today we are privileged to be able to serve children of all ages from K-4 VPK through 12th grade. Since October 2003, we have been serving families through the ministry of Evans Christian Center and are looking forward to an exciting journey with each new school year.
We know it is essential to have Christian education available so families can honor God with the most precious gift of all –knowledge based upon God’s truth. Our school is a place where every child will receive a solid Christian education. Our prayer is for God to lead you to make the right choice for your child.
As a student, your child will have an opportunity to be taught by professional educators who have invested years of training in order to effectively teach, helping each child succeed at every level. The goal of our staff is to provide a setting where children will be taught solid biblical principles, high academic standards, and discovery of their unique gifts and talents. Students wear required uniforms which provide an equal level of acceptance, modesty in fashion, concentration on academic achievement and a positive image in the community. Ultimately, we desire that your child learn the value of biblical principles that reflect God’s glory, which is the foundation for the making of great model citizens who excel in whatever they set their hearts and minds to do.
Knowing we are here to serve and assist you in selecting the right school, please feel free to contact us at 813-964-9800 should you have additional questions or would like to schedule a tour. We are confident that you will be pleased with what Evans Christian Academy has to offer. We trust the information provided here will communicate our heart, vision, and the positive impact that Christian education makes in the life of every child!
May God bless you and your family as you seek His will for your child’s education.

A TRIBUTE TO DONALD J. EVANS
In October 2003, Bethel Christian Academy faced the unthinkable: closure. The new pastoral administration of its founding church had decided that the school was no longer aligned with their vision. The news was devastating for the students, families, and teachers who called it home. But where others saw an ending, Pastor Donald J. Evans saw a calling, a divine opportunity to preserve a vital ministry for the sake of the community and eternity.
The turning point came when one of the academy’s teachers, burdened by the gravity of the situation, shared the news with Pastor Evans. His response was immediate and resolute. Understanding the profound impact Christian education has on the spiritual and academic development of young lives, Pastor Evans made the bold decision to act. He approached the board of Gateway Christian Center with a vision—to make Bethel Christian Academy, Gateway Christian Academy a part of their ministry. He championed the cause with passion and conviction, ultimately persuading the board to adopt the school.
The journey was far from easy. The transition brought challenges, from financial burdens to logistical hurdles. Yet, Pastor Evans never wavered. He saw Gateway Christian Academy not just as a school but as a mission field—a place where seeds of faith, knowledge, and character could be sown and nurtured. He believed that the school’s existence was vital, not only to educate students academically but also to shape their lives for eternity by rooting them in Christ-centered values.
Through his tireless efforts and unwavering faith, Pastor Evans ensured that Gateway Christian Academy didn’t just survive but thrived under the stewardship of Gateway Christian Center. His leadership preserved a beacon of hope and a transformative force in the community, touching the lives of countless students and families.
Today, as we reflect on his enduring legacy, we honor Pastor Donald J. Evans for his vision, courage, and dedication. He reminded us of all the importance of fighting for what matters most—faith, education, and the eternal impact of a Christ-centered mission. His efforts have left an indelible mark on the heart of our school and the lives it continues to transform.
Thank you, Pastor Evans, for your obedience to God’s call and for saving a ministry that continues to serve and inspire generations. Your legacy is one of hope, faith, and unwavering commitment to His kingdom.
Donald J. Evans
